Brady Smith Records Fourth Place Effort at Deep South; Lone Star 100 Up Next!

2009-03-18

SOLON SPRINGS, WISCONSIN – The Brady Smith Racing team resumed their 2009 campaign last Friday night, March 13 with round three of World of Outlaws Late Model Series competition at the Deep South Speedway in Loxley, Alabama. Brady Smith, making his first–ever visit to the Alabama speedplant, timed in thirteenth quickest in WOOLMS qualifying and later finished second in his stacked heat race. After re–drawing a three prior to the $7,000 to win main event, Brady rolled off from the inside of the second row in the 40–lap affair. The Solon Springs, Wisconsin native ran amongst the top five throughout the A–Main and eventually guided his #2 Bloomquist / Vic Hill entry to an impressive fourth place effort behind winner Steve Francis, Billy Moyer, and Brian Birkhofer.

The two–day 'Showdown on the Gulf' was scheduled to culminate with a $12,000 to win finale on Saturday evening, but Mother Nature unfortunately had different plans. Following the rain–out on Saturday at Deep South, Brady sits eleventh in the current World of Outlaws Late Model Series points battle. You can view complete results online at www.worldofoutlaws.com.

Next up for the #2 team will be a rare trip to the Lone Star State of Texas. The Battleground Speedway in Highlands, Texas will be the site of the $20,000 to win 'Lone Star 100,' which will be held on Friday and Saturday, March 20–21. Preliminary competition will kick off on Friday night and the weekend will be highlighted by a 100–lap main event on Saturday evening. The World of Outlaws Late Model Series will once again preside over all of the dirt–slinging action this weekend at Battleground.
